Originally hailing from the east coast independent scene, Draven Lawless was trained in the art of professional wrestling at the age of 15. Upon making the move to the west coast, Draven's submission skills were refined at Handsome Boy Wrestling school, run by SSP co-founder Mr. Fitness.

Lawless entered SSP to accompany his little brother, Led Lawless, as a personal cronie to Mr. Fitness. Lawless engaged in a series of violent bouts with Simba Six-Killer, one of Handsome Boy Wrestling School's top rivals. Fitness grew jealous when Draven Lawless successfully accomplished what Fitness himself could not, defeating Simba Six-Killer. This lead to a title bout between Lawless and Fitness for Fitness' long held Pacific Middleweight championship. Draven Lawless defeated Mr. Fitness at Bloodsport '06 in a 2-of-3 falls bout, then retired Fitness in a loser-leaves SSP bout at the very next Rebar show, and has held the championship since. After a victory over Simba at Bloodsport '07, Simba stole the title belt. Lawless sought to regain his gold, perhaps losing his sanity in the process. Lawless finally regained physical posessiion of his championship at the February 2008 Rebar event, Simba's retirement bout.
